What role does a reservoir play in oil and gas industry? What are their tasks? How are their lives?
All these information was mentioned on the meeting "Overview of Reservoir Engineering" held last Sunday, February 1st, from 9 am to 12 am. About 42 students from K1 and K2 took part in this event. The event also had the attendance of Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam and Mr. Nguyen Viet Khoi Nguyen from Petroleum Faculty and especially our honored guest, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Trung, a reservoir engineer from Rosneft Company.
The main purposes of this event is to provide students with basic terminologies of hydrocarbon system, reservoir management tasks and categories, so that they can be aware more of reservoir engineering works.
As the event went along, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Trung, our featured speaker introduced students to many concepts about reservoir engineer such as the reservoir characteristics (source rock, reservoir rock, etc.), main types of reservoir trap, and different kinds of drive mechanism. He also presented the works of two types reservoir engineering (production and simulation), and which qualities required to be a good engineer in these subjects. Mr. Trung indeed inspired a lot students not only by his knowledge but also his experiences after many years on field.
The presentation had helped K1 students understand much more about reservoir engineering and answer all queries in their minds. Although these are new concepts for K2 students but I believe that they have learnt a lot though this event.
Hoping that SPE PVU have more useful meeting like this in future.
