Creative event slogan
Besides concerning in oil and gas specialty, SPE Vietnam also keep an eye on the environment. Hence to preserve the beauty of Vung Tau beach and promote environmental awareness in the Oil & Gas community, this Sunday, SPE Vietnam organized a social activity that aimed at cleaning garbage on Vung Tau beach for O&G people, some of them even came all the way from Ho Chi Minh City.
People working very hard to bring a clean look on the beach
Sharply at 7a.m, more than 160 people garthered in front of the Grand Hotel then divided into 4 teams and got ready to clean the beach. Participants came from various oil and gas companies such as Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, Weatherford, Vietsovpetro, and Hoang Long- Hoang Vu JOC, etc. One more interesting thing was that SPE connected people different ages, different positions, for instance there was some very powerful people like Mr Mike Hopkins- Country Manager of Halliburton VietNam and there also was a little kid that his parents led him to the event. Hence this was a very educative activity for the children who their parents brought them here today. All the participants were happy to volunteer cleaning the beach and the result was incredible. By the end of the activity, garbage was taken out of the beach almost completely.
Team PVU with Ms. Jenny Le
PVU team attended this event with 8 people with a given task was to help SPE organizers supporting each cleaning team. PVU students made a good impression when showing up with PVU spirit: enthusiasm, friendly and active. PVU students joined to pick up garbage with everyone, delivered water and tools to their teams, help them as much as possible. During collecting trash, our students had a chance to meet, talked with seniors, especially managers of big companies who shared their experience to us. Then through stories that the seniors shared, they knew more clearly about oil and gas difficult situation at present and recruiting staff information of oil and gas companies. Our students really learned a lot in this morning. Like sister Jenny told to PVU student chapter, all of us had to try our best to maximize our chances in this event.
A great news is that this event will be held monthly on the first Sunday of each month so there will be lots of chance for our students to participate and connect with other people from the O&G Industry.
