Chemical Engineering focuses on the application of engineering principles to the design, construction and operation of industrial processing plants. A chemical engineer generally works at any industrial processing plant such as those dealing with petrochemicals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, food processing and other related industries. The job involves supervision of plant operation and maintenance, troubleshooting operational problems related to process, and undertaking plant modification work for process operability and safety improvement.

The Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Honours programme stresses the need for a strong foundation in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, followed by a thorough coverage of basic engineering courses such as Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Mass & Heat Transfer. In the later years of study, students are exposed to Unit Operations, Reaction Engineering, Safety & Environment, Process Control and Process Design.

Pass with at least Grade 22 in sum of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in 2019.

I am pleased to welcome you to the Petroleum Faculty, where we strive towards academic and research excellence. The Petroleum Faculty’s vision is to lead Asia in education, research and innovation for the sustainable development of energy resources. Our mission is to provide the necessary skills for undergraduate and graduate students to serve Vietnam in developing energy resources, natural resources, renewable energy, and petrochemicals while promoting cutting-edge research to solve challenging energy and environmental problems, such as carbon sequestration and other earth disposal processes, application of AI and big data in energy resources, and to foster the socially responsible development of the petroleum industry.

Established in 2011, Petroleum Faculty is the core faculty of the PetroVietnam University (PVU). Our faculty offers three undergraduate programs, namely Chemical Engineering, Geological Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering. Our programs focus on the practical aspects of engineering and fundamental science with unique curriculums developed by Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC-USA). We proud to be the only faculty in Vietnam with all three undergraduate programs accredited by ABET (The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) since 2022. Our programs are well aligned with the core businesses of PetroVietnam creating strong links between academic and industry. This helps us to bring hands on experience to our students and secure 100% job placement to our undergraduates. We also have strong research collaboration and student exchange programs with many institutions such as the University of Tulsa, Colorado School of Mines, New Mexico Tech, Chulalongkorn University, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. We have a very selective admission process and demand high requirements for students to maintain the quality of our programs. We also offer four graduate programs Chemical Engineering Geological Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Offshore Engineering. At our faculty, undergraduates and graduates have opportunities to work with cutting-edge facilities under the supervision of our outstanding faculty members to well-prepared students for their future careers.

The faculty provides students the opportunity to pursue their academic and professional development in an inspirational environment where faculties and students reap the benefits of problem solving, engineering design, and technology innovation. We strive to educate and foster an environment of excellence, creativity, and innovation, in which outstanding minds, faculties and students, work closely together to create fascinating and innovative solutions to the present problems of society.

1. Yêu cầu về kiến thức

  • Kiến thức cơ bản về khoa học xã hội, khoa học chính trị và pháp luật.
  • Khả năng ứng dụng kiến thức toán học, khoa học và kỹ thuật.
  • Khả năng phác thảo và tiến hành các thí nghiệm cũng như phân tích và diễn giải các dữ liệu trong lĩnh vực kỹ thuật hóa học.
  • Khả năng học tập đa ngành.
  • Khả năng thiết kế, mô phỏng, tối ưu hóa một hệ thống, các thành phần hoặc một quá trình trong lĩnh vực Kỹ thuật Hóa học đáp ứng được các yêu cầu thực tiễn như kinh tế, môi trường, xã hội, chính trị, đạo đức, sức khỏe và an toàn.
  • Khả năng nhận dạng, trình bày và giải quyết các vấn đề kỹ thuật và công nghệ hóa học.
  • Có các kiến thức về các vấn đề phổ biến trong chế biến dầu khí và phương pháp giải quyết: lọc hóa dầu, chế biến khí, nén khí, đo lường, trao đổi chất, trao đổi nhiệt, vận hành, phát hiện và xử lý sự cố trong công nghệ hóa dầu.
  • Có các kiến thức cơ bản về môi trường để có thể thành thạo trong lĩnh vực môi trường, kiểm tra và trách nhiệm.

2. Yêu cầu về kỹ năng và thái độ

  • Có hiểu biết về trách nhiệm nghề nghiệp, đạo đức và kinh tế gắn với hoạt động thực tiễn của kỹ thuật và công nghệ hóa dầu.
  • Khả năng giao tiếp hiệu quả.
  • Có hiểu biết về các tác động của các giải pháp khoa học kỹ thuật trong bối cảnh toàn cầu và xã hội.
  • Hiểu rõ các nhu cầu, khả năng tham gia học tập liên tục, suốt đời.
  • Kiến thức về các vấn đề hiện đại.
  • Khả năng sử dụng kỹ năng, thủ thuật và các công cụ kỹ thuật hiện đại cần thiết trong thực tập.
  • Sử dụng thành thạo tiếng Anh trong giao tiếp, làm việc và nghiên cứu. Chuẩn đầu ra tiếng Anh tương đương IELTS 5.5.

  • Khả năng phác thảo và tiến hành các thí nghiệm cũng như phân tích và diễn giải các dữ liệu.
  • Khả năng học tập đa ngành.
  • Khả năng thiết kế một hệ thống, các thành phần hoặc một quá trình đáp ứng các yêu cầu thực tiễn như kinh tế, môi trường, xã hội, chính trị, đạo đức, sức khỏe và an toàn.
  • Khả năng nhận dạng, trình bày và giải quyết các vấn đề kỹ thuật và công nghệ dầu khí.
  • Có khả năng thiết kế, phân tích hệ thống mỏ, vận hành khoan và hoàn thiện mỏ, phân tích hệ khai thác, bơm và điều khiển dung dịch, hệ thống khai thác, thu gom, xử lý và vận chuyển dầu khí.
  • Hiểu biết về đặc điểm và định lượng sự hình thành lớp dưới bề mặt địa chất và các nguồn sử dụng các phương pháp kỹ sư và khoa học địa chất.
  • Có khả năng ứng dụng nguyên lý và thực tiễn của kỹ thuật vỉa để tối ưu hóa việc quản lý và phát triển tài nguyên.
  • Sử dụng phương pháp định lượng các dự án kinh tế và tài nguyên để thiết kế và đưa ra quyết định trong điều kiện rủi ro và không chắc chắn.

2. Yêu cầu về kỹ năng và thái độ

  • Có hiểu biết về trách nhiệm nghề nghiệp, đạo đức và kinh tế gắn với hoạt động thực tiễn của Khoan và Khai thác mỏ dầu khí.
  • Khả năng giao tiếp hiệu quả.
  • Có hiểu biết về các tác động của các giải pháp khoa học kỹ thuật trong bối cảnh toàn cầu và xã hội.
  • Hiểu rõ các nhu cầu, khả năng tham gia học tập liên tục, suốt đời.
  • Kiến thức về các vấn đề hiện đại.
  • Khả năng sử dụng kỹ năng, thủ thuật và các công cụ kỹ thuật hiện đại cần thiết trong thực tập.
  • Sử dụng thành thạo tiếng Anh trong giao tiếp, làm việc và nghiên cứu. Chuẩn đầu ra tiếng Anh tương đương IELTS 5.5.
