At the 8th National Student Chemistry Olympiad 2014, PVU Chemistry Olympiad team ranked in the top 5 in Group B with On Kim Thinh, Nguyen Tien Dung won second prize, Duong Nguyen Cong Thanh, and Tran Van Hung got third prizes, and Nguyen Le Thanh Hung got consolation prize.
The 8th National Student Chemistry Olympiad took place from 6th – 9th April, 2014 at Can Tho University. The contest was organized by the Chemical Society of Vietnam (CSV), the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union once every 2 years. The contest is an event for students of universities and colleges with a common passion for Chemistry to have the opportunity to exchange, learn, and express their passion for science. At the same time, this is an opportunity for officials and lecturers of the universities to exchange expertise, share teaching and research experiences, enhance mutual understanding and creat opportunities for academic cooperation in the future.
This year's contest had a total of 198 contestants from 30 universities and colleges across the country. They were divided into 38 teams to compete in 03 groups. Group A includes 13 teams with 65 students, Group B 14 teams with 70 students and Group C 11 teams with 65 students.
In this contest, PVU Chemistry Olympiad team led by Dr. Hoang Hung as team leader, along with two lecturers, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Nhung and Mr. Nguyen Van Kiet, participated in Group B.

This is the first time that PVU participated in the Contest. The team achieved high results, ranking in the top 5 of the whole group with all students winning prizes, including 2 second prizes, 2 third prizes, and 1 consolation prize.

On April 13th, at Trung Vuong Theater - Da Nang City, the Closing and Awarding Ceremony was held to award prize to the winners at the 21th National Mathematical Olympiad jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), the Vietnam Mathematical Society (VMS) and the Vietnam National Union of Students (VNUS) and Duy Tan University.

This exam attracted 900 students from 89 universities and colleges across the country. PVU sent 02 teams with 06 students to compete in both subjects Algebra and Calculus and excellently won 01 first prize, 01 second prize and 03 third prizes. To be specific, Dao Trong Nguyen won the first prize in Calculus, Nguyen Van Thu won second prize in Algebra, Pham Hong Bay and Nguyen Tu Bon won third prize in Algebra and Tran Cong Minh won third prize in Calculus.

Although it was only the second time participating, PVU students’ results were outstanding. That has confirmed our teachers’ and students’ efforts and PVU’s high-quality training.
PVU won 2 second prizes and 4 third prizes in the first time participating in the 20th National Student Mathematical Olympiad.
The 20th National Student Mathematical Olympiad was jointly organized by Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association, the Vietnam Mathematical Society (VMS) and Phu Yen University on April 10th – 14th at Phu Yen University. PVU students excellently won 2 second prizes and 4 third prizes in Algebra and Calculus. On April 14 in Tuy Hoa city, the closing and awarding ceremony was solemnly held.

Joining with more than 660 students from 77 universities and colleges across the country, PVU team had 6 students who all won prizes. Dao Trong Nguyen and Nguyen Van Tu won second prize in Calculus and Algebra, respectively; Nguyen Ba Hoang Cuong and Nguyen Van Thu won third prize in Algebra; Tran Cong Minh and Nguyen Ngoc Quy won third prize in Calculus.

Just established at the end of 2010, this is the first time PVU had participated in the National Mathematical Olympiad. The results that PVU students achieved have shown their great efforts in study and are also one of the initial achievements which are worthy of recognition for PVU’s high-quality training.
As a way of celebrating Youth Month and continuing environmental protection activities, on March 21st, PVU Youth Union organized “Sunday Clean-up” in order to support the campaign “Clean up the Sea For a Green Vietnam” at Phuoc Hai Fishing Village, Dat Do district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (BR-VT). The campaign was jointly launched by Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Youth Union, the Center for Communication of Natural Resources and Environment (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) and Green Trips Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Khuong - Secretary of Youth Union of PVU said “The campaign is meaningful and practical. PVU youth can celebrate the Youth Month by joining hands in the campaign to contribute to improving the living environment and preserving the blue color of the sea”.
The activities were exciting and diverse such as picking up trash along the beach, packing it, then putting it in the garbage trucks, and helping the cleaners clean up the beach.
This activity has raised awareness and aroused proper actions of each youth union member in the university, enhanced their consolidation, and conveying the message to the community and local people so that they can change their behaviors and not adversely affect the environment.
The campaign was carried out simultaneously in 28 coastal provinces and cities, and 9 large islands with more than 10.000 volunteers towards the purpose of raising the sense of community responsibility about the role of the sea, the importance of garbage segregation and the reduction of ocean plastic waste.

On 1st November 2018, the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between Ba Ria - Vung Tau University (BVU) and PetroVietnam University (PVU) took place at BVU Campus 1.
The signing ceremony was carried out with the attendance of Dr. Hoang Van Kiem - Rector of BVU and Dr. Vu Van Dong - Vice Rector of BVU, together with some heads of departments, centers and institutes of BVU, Dr. Phan Minh Quoc Binh – Rector of PVU and other delegates.
On behalf of BUV, Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Kiem gave a speech to welcome the delegation and introduce Ba Ria - Vung Tau University. He also emphasized the university's goals and mission in human resource training, scientific research, potentials and goals of cooperation for both universities in the coming time. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Kiem also proposed the topics to be discussed before signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between two parties.
On behalf of PVU, Dr. Phan Minh Quoc Binh thanked the kind welcome of Ba Ria - Vung Tau University. He hoped that, with this MOU, the staff, lecturers and students of the two universities will be given the best conditions to jointly conduct scientific research and study.
At the meeting, Rectors of the two universities discussed their educational and training activities. Based on the existing strengths of each university, BVU and PVU have reached agreements in:
- developing research and technology
- building a network of technology experts
- formulating academic policies
- implementing joint research programs
- establishing system of exchanging scholars, lecturers, interns and students
- exchanging technology training and practice environments, improving the quality of human resources of the two sides
- coordinating in international research projects
On January 29 in Hanoi, PetroVietnam University (PVU) and Information and Communication Public Management Institute (ICI), Ministry of Information and Communications, officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
The MOU expresses the desire to maximize the capabilities of the two sides in the fields of training, scientific research, technology transfer and consulting on digital solutions and digital transformation to contribute to the realization of the target of National Digital Transformation Program, exploit the potential of facilities, human resources as well as experience of the two sides.

Besides, the two units will build and develop a globally innovative ecosystem. They will also accompany in research, consulting, training, coaching and connecting units in the oil and gas and energy industries, startups and businesses in Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication, Mr. Phan Tam said that the signing of MOU would bind the two institutes. The capacity and capabilities of the two schools will be maximized in training in general and training in digital transformation in particular. It also contributes to the realization of the goals of the national digital transformation program such as developing the digital government, digital economy, digital society, and contributing to the formation of Vietnamese digital technology enterprises capable of reaching out to the world.

"The cooperation between ICI and PVU today is a long-term strategy for our development and integration in the digital transformation trend.", said Dr. Phan Ngoc Trung - Member of the Board of Directors of PVN. He also expressed the hope that right after the signing ceremony, the units are going to start working on concretizing cooperation contents, building resources, connecting networks and effectively deploying to get concrete results soon.
This event laid a solid foundation for the long-term sustainable cooperation between the two units, which is in accordance with the development trend in the context of the 4th industrial revolution as well as the current digital transformation era.
On Sunday morning of November 22nd, 2020, PVU Intake 9 freshmen and their teachers organized an outdoor activity called “Green picnic” in order to help students socialize, connect and raise awareness of environmental protection. The location was at Paradise Beach of Vung Tau City.
One of the most prominent activities of the picnic was picking up trash along the beach near the tourist area. In just 2 hours, students cleaned more than 500m of the beach and collected 100 bags of trash. That contributed to creating a green, clean and beautiful environment and at the same time raising tourists’ and the local people’s awareness of environmental protection.
The activity also helped these students to socialize and be connected. More importantly, it helped raise their awareness and responsibility to preserve and protect the environment through practical activities, continuing series of environmental activities that PVU students had participated in before, such as the project "Coastal Painting" at Phuoc Hai Fishing Village, the "Sunday CleanUp" event at Doi Nhai Beach, Vung Tau City.
In the late afternoon, all the students cleaned up the picnic sites and took great photos together. The picnic ended in joys and laughters.

On November 29, in Ba Ria city, the 9th Student Cultural Festival took place to celebrate the 59th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (27/11/1961- 27/11/2020) with many meaningful, joyful, useful and practical activities and left many beautiful and emotional images.
The 9th Petroleum Culture Festival is jointly organized by Youth Union of PVMTC and Youth Union of PVU under the direction of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of PVN.
With an aim at improving the quality of education, promoting cultural, artistic and sports activities among students from PVMTC, PVU and other schools in the area, such as Ba Ria- Vung Tau College of Technology, Ba Ria-Vung Tau College of
Education, BR-VT Provincial Medical College, etc, the event was also an opportunity to create an exciting emulation movement for socializing and connecting students, promote the youthful spirit, and contribute to improving the effectiveness and practicality of youth union activities.
The festival attracted more than 800 students from the forementioned schools to participate in many exciting competitions such as football, volleyball, badminton, chess, table tennis. Besides, there was also a Teambuilding program on the theme of “Student Race" with many rousing team games such as Teamwork Spirit, Modern Fishing, High Speed Train, etc.
In the evening of the same day, there was a campfire program performed by students from all of the schools. There was an interesting campfire ceremony followed by music performances, and an awarding ceremony.

Recently, Petro Vietnam University (PVU) and Petronas Institute of Technology, under Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) signed a cooperation agreement in training and scientific research. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Sy -Vice Principal of Petro Vietnam University introduced PVU’s strengths to the partner, also spoke up the importance of cooperation and granting scholarships to students.
For UTP, It was a pleasure to cooperate with PVU mainly focusing on oil and gas training, Prof. Mohd Shahir Liew- Deputy Director of Research & Innovation Institute expressed.
Both sides believed the signing cooperation is the good start for development in research and training; at the same time, both committed to actively promoting activities in order to make the provisions of the memorandum to be effectively, tightly, and stably done.
The memorandum content is aimed at two key audiences: the lecturers and students. Specifically, the two universities will exchange lecturers and students back and forth, grant scholarships to students, cooperate in research and publication.
With practical content of the signing agreement, the cooperation program has opened up doors for opportunities of exchanging, enhancing academic improvements between two universities, especially in promoting each university’s own strengths.

RSCE is an annual scientific conference in the Asia.
