As a way of celebrating Youth Month and continuing environmental protection activities, on March 21st, PVU Youth Union organized “Sunday Clean-up” in order to support the campaign “Clean up the Sea For a Green Vietnam” at Phuoc Hai Fishing Village, Dat Do district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (BR-VT). The campaign was jointly launched by Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Youth Union, the Center for Communication of Natural Resources and Environment (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) and Green Trips Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Khuong - Secretary of Youth Union of PVU said “The campaign is meaningful and practical. PVU youth can celebrate the Youth Month by joining hands in the campaign to contribute to improving the living environment and preserving the blue color of the sea”.
The activities were exciting and diverse such as picking up trash along the beach, packing it, then putting it in the garbage trucks, and helping the cleaners clean up the beach.
This activity has raised awareness and aroused proper actions of each youth union member in the university, enhanced their consolidation, and conveying the message to the community and local people so that they can change their behaviors and not adversely affect the environment.
The campaign was carried out simultaneously in 28 coastal provinces and cities, and 9 large islands with more than 10.000 volunteers towards the purpose of raising the sense of community responsibility about the role of the sea, the importance of garbage segregation and the reduction of ocean plastic waste.
