On July 18th, 2025, The Petrovietnam University (PVU) had the honor of welcoming a delegation from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) for an official visit and working session. The meeting was conducted in a cordial and collaborative atmosphere, during which PVU students had the opportunity to learn more about KFUPM and explore a range of attractive joint study-abroad and internship programs.
King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), located in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, is a leading institution in science, engineering, and applied research. The university comprises seven academic colleges: College of Engineering and Physics; College of Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences; College of Chemicals and Materials; College of Computing and Mathematics; College of Design and Built Environment; KFUPM Business School; and College of General Studies.

KFUPM offers several fully funded scholarship programs for outstanding international students across all disciplines, including:
- Fully Funded Direct PhD and PhD Scholarship: The scholarship covers 100% tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, on campus housing, health insurance, and subsidized meals. PhD Applicants must hold An M.S. degree in engineering or science; A minimum GPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent in both the B.S. and M.S. degrees; Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 (PBT); 213 (CBT) or 80 (IBT). IELTS is also acceptable (min 6.5) or Duolingo (min 120). For Direct PhD program (4-5 years to finish), applicants need Bachelor holders (4 years BSc) to apply for PhD directly.
- Fully Funded International Exchange Program: A one semester study opportunity at KFUPM with tuition, housing, and stipend fully covered. Applicants must have permission from their home institution, a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and meet English proficiency requirements (TOEFL iBT 70 or IELTS 6.0).
- Fully Funded International Summer Research Program: An intensive 8week research placement under KFUPM faculty mentorship, open to undergraduate students worldwide. The program covers housing, travel expenses, and a stipend for selected participants. Eligibility Criteria is High school (Grade 11 & 12) and university students; Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in research; Minimum score (for high school grade: 99%), and (for UG students: cumulative GPA: 3.5/4.0).

For students in Geology and Geophysics, the College of Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences offers exceptional academic and research opportunities. This college consists of two departments—Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences—offering advanced degree programs in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, and Environmental Sciences, as well as specialized tracks such as Reservoir Characterization and Unconventional Hydrocarbon Resources. Owns the Dhahran Techno-Valley, which hosts R&D centers for major multinational corporations such as Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, Sinopec, Schneider, Yokogawa, Emerson, Honeywell, and Halliburton.
